1. Look for a friendly bunch.
You should want a team that treats you like real people, not mere business transactions or faceless clients. Your job is stressful enough, especially when you're in charge of projects. The anxiety and pressure can increase tenfold. Be on the look out for a pleasant company who will lighten your burden.
2. Seek out experts of creativity.
Here's what I mean. Your professional company should be spectacular at what they do and flexible to your requests. I know you want a company that will squeeze out their creative juices in any stage of the production process or in any service you hire them for, whether it's the planning stage for a Kickstarter campaign, the live video coverage for a marketing event, or the post-production and distribution phase of your training materials. And it won't hurt for them to have the best tools, like top-of-the line filming equipment and edit suites, to support those skills (cough cough).
3. Avoid babysitting.
Babysitting the production company is the last thing you need. As we agreed upon earlier, your job is enough; you don't need to have to watch the company you are paying to make sure they are doing their job correctly. The best video production companies will make sure to get your input or your visions for the project and propose some of their own (their ideas should come from over 130 years of experience, wink wink). Then they will work hard to translate those plans into reality. Of course, if you want to be hands-on with your project, they will make room for you throughout the stages of production.
4. Find efficiency.
Get a company who has a reputation for being reliable. You don't want to get in trouble with your boss or waste your company's resources by hiring an inefficient company, do you? I didn't think so. Find a company who will take note of all your requirements, work hard in accomplishing your projects, and respect your deadlines. Find high quality and punctuality.
5. Get a company who understands what you need from them.
This understanding comes from experience, experience with all kinds of businesses across many industries. A company that can take that experience and channel it to give you what you want and need (sometimes without even asking) is highly valuable.
At Joyco, we are all these things you see above. We fervently strive to produce a high-quality and effective video that will positively impact your bottom line and give you a unique experience throughout.
