Receiving national recognition were two projects: a LifeLoc Technologies FC series spot, that highlighted the capabilities of their new breath analyzer; it received the Platinum. And the Gold award went to a self-generated, in-house, seasonal promotional video greeting card for Joyco MultiMedia, LLC that featured an animated snow globe complete with individually animated snowflakes and a falling christmas tree ornament.
Senior Editor, Tom Hofmeister said the LifeLoc spot was a challenge on a number of levels. "We wanted to show the device from all angles, but found it nearly impossible to photograph the device since it had shiny surfaces and was pretty small. We also wanted to combine actual live action footage with the animated material, so the animation had to look photo-realistic."
Hofmeister went on to say that for the snow globe project he was particularly interested in capturing the refraction of the image as the camera moved through the globe's glass wall. Both projects spotlight the sophisticated computer technology and creative editors Joyco has been be blessed with.
Joyco President, Bob Coffin, has aggressively pursued investment in technology and personnel for a number of years. "These awards are validation of that strategy," Coffin says. "Joyco has always striven to offer our clients high end technology and award winning results at a reasonable cost," he added.
PIXIE© awards are sponsored by The American Pixel Academy (APA) www.americanpixelacademy.org.
Judging is done by professionals who have excelled in the "moving pixel" areas of animation, motion graphics and effects. Entries are judged on a standard of excellence, not against each other.
