You could define "video production" as the use of physical devices combined with the creative thinking of the user. The "user" in Joyco's case, would be the director, writer, producer, videographer and editor. And the "physical devices" would be the cameras, computers, audio equipment and other devices used to complete a production.
At Joyco, we take pride in the fact that our company has a great selection of equipment and personnel needed for video production, in-house. Most of the time we don't have to rent hardware to complete projects. This keeps production costs down and has the added benefit of maintaining a high reliability factor. We are very familiar with our own equipment, which is well maintained, so very seldom are there costly delays during a production due to mistakes or equipment failure.
Many times, new clients are surprised at the breadth of hardware owned by Joyco, that can be applied to a job. For instance, Joyco owns a complete three camera high definition camera package with video switcher that can travel to any location and be setup within minutes of arrival. We also have all the camera support equipment needed for a three camera shoot including tripods, camera jib, SteadiCam package and camera dolly with track. We even have wireless video transmitters that boast a range of several miles.
Included in this multi-camera package is equipment like digital video recorders and sophisticated audio equipment for capturing audio with high end wired or wireless microphones. Joyco's production equipment manifest also includes a selection of lighting instruments, both hot lights as well cooler florescent fixtures that can be utilized either on location or in our studio located just down the hall from our main offices in Arvada, Colorado.
Joyco owns many other types of cameras from DSLRs to tiny action cameras that can be mounted in unusual positions for creative shots.
Once production is complete, post-production begins and the massive investment Joyco has made in the latest editing technology come into play. Our editors use the latest Macintosh computers coupled with high speed video servers that are accessible by multiple users, to finish jobs in a quick and efficient manner.
With production and post-production complete, the job is turned over to our Fulfillment department. Now this the exciting part. The project is distributed, either by disc (which are duplicated, labeled and packaged in-house), or by files that are transcoded and converted to whatever format is necessary for the chosen avenue of distribution. Video streaming could be used or maybe a video server keyed to be used by only a select group through password access. Or perhaps file based hard copies distributed on USB drives. All this happens within Joyco.
But the foremost impression we want to make is this: all this work, top to bottom, is accomplished with tools, equipment and personnel that are all in-house. 100% Joyco owned and operated. Now that's having the right tool for the job.
So this begs the question: How do we choose the right tool for the right job? The answer entirely depends on you. Our specialty is Creating What the Imagination Envisions® so we choose the equipment to meet your needs. We don't choose our favorite because we like it. We use what you need and hopefully you have realized that there isn't much that we don't have. This means less money out of your wallets and more expertise from us.
